I am thankful for …

My awesome instructors. Andy, for his encyclopedic knowledge of the human body and 72 years of experience living in one, as well as his willingness to appeal to our lower natures for a laugh.  ”You guys will be REALLY excited when we start learning about the reproductive system … because that’s the last chapter in the book.  Get your mind out of the gutter.”  Gary, for his insistence on respect for self and others, and for building a real family out of a class of random massage students.

My classmates. We run the gamut from psychics to scientists, and yet we all love one another and balance things out.  For the mailing list test reviews, the post-exam celebrations at Putters, and for creating an environment in which walking in and announcing “I really need somebody to rub my butt!” elicits volunteers instead of suspicion.

My husband. For being chauffeur, cook, cheerleader, proofreader, and test-dummy while I’m in school.  He’s even become something of an evangelist for massage therapy, telling anyone who will listen about its medical benefits.  I’m pretty sure this isn’t what he signed up for when he married me in January, but he’s been a fantastic sport about it nonetheless.

My blogmentors. Can I possibly say enough nice things about Kelli and Allissa?  I found Allissa’s Writing a Blue Streak when I was just thinking about starting LMT or Bust.  I was on a desperate quest to find massage therapy bloggers who were intelligent, informative, and fun to read.  I was so relieved to have finally found one that I sent her an email telling her so.  Not only did Allissa write back and introduce me to Kelli at Massage Therapy World, but the two of them have been the help and encouragement without which my blogging adventure would have been short-lived, at best.  Everyone should read them and send them love and clients.

My dad.  For raising his daughter to be a bit of a geek.

My mom.  For recognizing that her strange daughter was going to do her own thing, and in her own time, but do it splendidly.

My sister. For being the most driven person I know (and a soldier and a NaNoWriMo princess), and reminding me that I can accomplish pretty much anything, if I want it badly enough.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
